Why is he faking sick? First, rule out any issues at school that need to be taken care of. If he is faking sick so he can spend a nice day lounging on the couch watching TV...maybe you should give him a new idea about what sick days are like. I went through a phase of faking sick in 1st grade (long, long ago), if I stayed home, I had to stay in my bed ALL day...no TV(just mom telling me I was too sick to watch TV), no books(just mom telling me I was too sick to read), no attention (just mom telling me to go to sleep, since I was sick), nothing good to eat (just mom bringing me bland stuff...since I was so sick)...this pretty much killed my desire to fake sick to stay home.

When I was a kid I would try to do that. I would try to be sent home faking I was sick, but one time they told me my temp. was 100.7. I didn't even feel sick but I got to go home. A lot of kids are doing that because of many reasons, I hope mine don't but I think everyone does at one point. It's normal so don't worry.

I say unless they are puking their brains out or have a 102 fever make them go to school. My parents always made me go and it made me tough. I have not missed a day of work in fours years (minus maturity leave). Even when I was pregnant I still went everyday. I also agree if you must keep them home make them stay in bed. I have gone as far as bring Tylenol to my child on my lunch break rather than bring them home. After all the fever is what make them feel bad most of the time. I know I'm a mean mom, but once they learned that staying home is not an option they do not even ask. Again if they are really sick I wouldn't make them go, but mine luckily wait until the weekend to get sick. When they are a little sick I send them with a box of tissue and hand sanitizer.
