Requirements for starting private pre school at home for children at the age 2 - 5?

I want to open a private pre school for children at the age of between 3 and 6. I am living in Illinois state and I would like to know what requirements I need to meet. Will I need any specific certifications from the state?

Thank You,

If you want to be legal and licensed, you will need to contact your local job and family services - they will put you in touch with the right person. Converting a home is tough work -there are a LOT of requirements with anything requiring our young children.

I really do not know with your state...I suggest you check with your state licensing requirements...you should be able to go online to get them. You will most likely have to licensed through the state as a child care since preschools have to be. As for certifications...my guess is that if you have a CDA or equivalent you would be good to go. Presently I am transitioning from child care to preschool in my home...I am licensed through the State of MI as child care, I do not have an associate's degree or a CDA but I have the credits and definately the hours to meet more than the equivalent of a CDA or Associates. I've had no problems, thus far, with this transition.
