| I really need advise right now. I don't know how to put this into a question so can you just read the details?
The research report I’m writing for school, to my relief, is starting to come together very well, I’m almost done… I think. My concern is that all of the example research reports I was shown before I started writing were shorter then what I have here, and I still want to cover a lot more. The thing is, I think it’s going to be too long. I could wrap it up right now, but it would have only covered like 3-4 topics of African poverty (what I’m writing about). I was planning on covering A LOT more then this. Should I make it really long? Or should I just wrap it up and not take it so seriously? Please note that while writing this research report I really haven’t been very educated on exactly what a research report is. I mean, they explained to me a little bit, but I still don’t quite get it. I’m really confused on a lot, I’m doing my best, but yeah, just letting you guys know to be patient with me if I sound like a total idiot right now.homework helpAlright if you want more info here it goes.Highschool level.I never remeber hearing about any size restrictions, but I'm pretty sure I'd look stupid for handing in such a long paper.Wow, I was surprised at the great answers I've gotten. Thanks guys =)

Please give us some more details. What kind of class is this report for?Is this a high school, college course?Has the teacher given any restraints about paper length?Based on what the options are, I would say that you're better off to write the longer paper. If the teacher would rather the shorter one, then it should be fairly easy to erase the extra work. You might even consider writing both, take them both with you, ask the teacher which they would prefer, and just throw the other one away.

if you dont exactly match the examples thats okay. dont worry about the length as much as the quality. what you do need to do is decide what your most important topics are, and what topics you have the most information on.it seems like you have alot of ideas and maybe even hopefully alot of references for your researchwhat they are looking for its probably not your opinion on african poverty-- but they want to see that you can effectively organize the information clearly.my advice to you is to pick the MAIN topics you want to talk about-- make sure you have references, and cite them in the paper itself as well as on a works cited page (you can search MLA or APA citation guidelines on google and there are some good webpages out there)after you pick those topics, present your informatin on them. one at a time.make sure your paper is clear and to the pointdont jumble it with too many facts that you can't expand on.if you want, depending on when it is due, i would be willing to proofread it for you. please get back to me and i will privately give you my email address and if i have time, i would be glad to help you by proofreading for errorsgood luck. =)

I would suggest that you come up with a thesis statement. To address "African Poverty" in a research paper would daunt even an expert on the subject. Do you want to focus on Darfur? On Ethiopia? On South Africa? How does the culture influence the reaction to poverty? How does their government help/hurt the problem? Figure out your main subject, and research to support your thesis. This should make it much easier and will make it more insightful for yourself.Good luck.

I think you have learned the way that research reports are written. You have found that you have too much information. Now comes the hard part of the research you have done. You need to cull information and narrow your topic. Sometimes this is the hardest part. A well researched paper will show me the important points of the chosen topic. You don't sound like an idiot. You are at a crucial point in the writing process. I was writing an essay to get into graduate school this week. I had a coworker read it to give me his perspective. He let me know that I had covered five topics to a very shallow level where I should have covered one topic very well. I had to trash a lot of what I had written to get a great essay out. I would ask the instructor how long your report is expected to be.Good luck.

Write a somewhat general beginning of the report that gives a hint of what you're trying to do and how you may end the report. Organize the rest with as much coherent information as possible. Don't worry about how long so long as you're not repeating yourself. Write a nice conclusion to the report indicating how the stuff you have just written leads to your conclusion. By the way, the conclusion does not have to state or justify an opinion.

Mostly for a research report, you want to make sure things are factual, non-biased, and as concise as possible without losing important details.NO:"The poverty-stricken people of Africa are one of the most shameful and preventable things on this planet.YES:"There is some evidence that poverty in these nations can be eradicated by relatively simple means."NO:"Some people of Africa are so poor, they cannot afford rice, meat, clothing, building supplies, farming equipment, or even a sleeping mat."YES:"Some people of Africa cannot even afford life's necessities like food and shelter."Trying to help you |
