Help with math homework. Ellipses.?

Please provide clear solutions and explanations.

1. A racetrack is in the shape of an ellipse 80 feet long and 40 feet wide. What is the width 10 feet from the side?

2. Find an equation of the set of all points in a plane, each of whose distance from (2,0) is one-half its distance from the line x=8.
