My cat has a leg injury with some wounds which seem quite deep? I have a female Siamese cat which has got some severe wounds . I took her to the vet and he asked me to give her an antibiotic syrup using a needless syringe to her by placing the syringe filled with antibiotic syrup in her mouth but she spat it out. I don't know what to do and am really worried. I will also ask about the type of food to be given to her and how much and how to prevent her from biting and scratching. Wish you the best so please help me out.

Hi There,Your poor cat, It is a good thing for your cat to lick her wounds as she will keep it clean and as for the antibiotic syrup if you can't get your cat to keep it in her mouth then put it on her front leg and paw, she will clean it off and get her medication, best of luck. I hope you and your cat are alright.

why didn't he sew up the wounds? perhaps they are not as bad as they seem. when you give her the medication put the syringe right at the back of her mouth and hold her mouth shut and stroke her throat after to make sure she swallows it down its very important to kill any infection she might be harbouring in the wounds. to stop her from biting and scratching the wounds you will need to get her a plastic collar from the vets, its very wide and she will not be able to turn her head round to get at the wounds it looks cruel but is the only way to stop animals from licking and biting at wounds good luck as for her food I would just give her the same as before
