how do you get rid of repetitive strain injury from playing guitar?

hey
i play guitar, but in the last few months ive developed a pain and stiffness in my picking thumb. i tried cutting down my playing, but it still hasnt gone away. wat can i do to get rid of this?

You possibly could be tensing your hand too much- which is an easy thing to do- my elbow was like that for awhile too but i attended a physio and they gave me exercises
