Bowel Injuries?

Does anyone know ANYTHING about bowel injuries?? Signs....sypmtoms...anything!??

I was in an accident with a semi truck. 3 weeks ago. The force was more then you can imagine...he was going full speed.

My seat belt locked, very tightly. I had to beg one of the witnesses to take it off cause I was in so much pain around my left hip area.

At the hospital they did xrays and CT scans and whatnot. Nothing major showed up. They kept me over night to makesure there were no internal injuries.

I had major bruising all along my lower stomach and pelvis. The bruising has since healed.

The past week it has hurt to go to the bathroom. I have had sharp ains in my lower left stomach area. The area is INCREDIBLY sensitive to touch. And I have been not constipated, but my (TOO MUCH INFORMATION) stools are not how they normally are. I am regular but they seem different....


I was also told a bowel injury with not show up until the pt has eaten their first full meal?? Is this true?? Could this be why nothing showed up that night?

What happened to you? I worked in a hospital where they brought a bullrider who was pulled into a fence and had a post rammed up his rectum; it was pretty obvious he was injured. Severe abdominal injuries can affect the bowel. I'd think there would be abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, tenseness of the abdominal wall. I don't really know how else to answer since your question was so vague.
