How did Shawn Michaels come back from injury.?

In 1998 Shawn Michaels fell awkwardly into the Casket during a Casket match with the Undertaker and ruptured two disks in his back and completely crushed one of them. 4 years later he was able to wrestle again. How did this happen?

He had several surguries, and alot of rehab.

Bluntly? It's a bit of a miracle. Noone ever expected to see him come back after that. Most of the older-time fans are absolutely overjoyed he IS back, however. It was a very long, very hard road.
