Yankees fans: Should A-Rod play shortstop if Jeter is out with this injury?

Should Alex play short and Ensberg play third? Or should they put Betemit at short and keep Alex at third? What would you do if you were Joe?

No Yankees haters please. Anyone with an anti-Yankees response will immediately be given a thumbs down.

A-Rod should play shortstop, regardless.

Have fun

Keep A-Rod at third. It would throw off his rhythm. He has settled in nicely at Third so leave him there and let Betemit play SS. If Betemit isn't working out bring up someone from AAA if its a long term injury. Routine is very important for major leaguers so keeping consistency for A-Rod is key.

ewww, the threat of a thumbs down. Almost made me not answer this.

Two reasons why they shouldn't put Arod at SS for this injury.
1) Even though they are on the same side of the infield, they are still different positions and it may affect him in the short term going there and then going back to 3B.

2) the team and the fans may actually see how SS is played well by a Yankee and when Jeter comes back, the comments like. hmmm, Arod got to that ball, or Arod made that throw last week while playing short will start.
Then, the artificial halo that Yankee fans like to put on Jeter's defence will start to colour and wear.

You really don't want the pressure of a good defensive shortstop hanging over Derek's head. It's not very nice not to support the captain of your team, even if that dedication hurts your team overall.

Since Alex came to Noo Yawk, he has played shortstop in five games -- all back in 2004-05 -- each time as a late-inning move (from 3B), either replacing Rey Sanchez or after Jeter had already been taken out of the game.

Seriously, haven't ANY Yankee fans been wondering, just how well The Best Player In Baseball would do at his original position, the position he had played since childhood, at where he starred in Seattle and Texas, won one AL MVP and should have had another one or two? I can see how the Steinbrenners and the front office wouldn't want to move St. Derek -- and have not -- but how have the fans stayed silent?

Good grief yes, put ARod at short, and I say this as no Yankee fan whatsoever. It has been near-criminal that The Best Player In Baseball has had to play out of position (and done quite well at third, thank you) just because he's Not Jeter.

Betemit has to play somewhere for a few days, might as well put him where the damage will be minimized.

A-Rod is the Yankees 3rd baseman. Even if Jeter goes down, A-Rod should stay put at 3rd. Moving him back and forth between positions isn't a good thing.
