| I think these "rumors" are coming from two possible sources. 1. The Media. They just will not leave the man alone. The rest of the NFL is a bed of corruption and controversy. Favre was the only (greatly visible) good face the NFL ever had in recent times. So the media goes after Brett Favre with every angle to catch him in a moment of weakness to eke out an "I guess" he might come back scenario. Remember that Favre still says that he will not come back right now, even in the latest article where he said that an injury might bring him back. The media just jumps on the parts they like and ignores the rest. 2. They are deliberate messages to Packers GM from Favre For 16 years, Brett Favre has had to win or lose alone. He never had a team around him that he could rely on. You would think that might wear on a guy, even a legend. No wonder Favre is tired. He wants some weapons. Why is Ted Thompson so adamant in his refusal to help Favre out? The Packers have plenty of cap room. Brett Favre is probably scratching his head like many fans are. These "rumors" may be deliberate messages from Favre to Ted Thompson to get off his backside and give Favre some help. Personally, I think Thompson is a moron. He has had a team that could have won the Super Bowl. But he has refused to give Favre the weapons he needs. Now Favre got so sick of it, he retired. In the end, I think the reasons for the comeback "rumors" are a combination of 1 and 2. As for if it is fair for Aaron Rodgers, I could care less. The Packers should have traded him long ago. I hope they do now and show Favre that they are willing to give him the weapons he deserves. The Packers can then draft a decent QB for the future in a nice crop of prospects coming up. Favre has talent to play for another 2-3 years. That may seem insane, but he is playing better than almost any other QB right now. Imagine if he had top talent around him. He might still outplay Manning or Brady if Favre had the right people around him. Aaron Rodgers would fail horribly if he played for an entire year with the same people that Favre had. Everyone points to the Cowboys game and says that he will be good. Sorry, but who won that game? The Packers should have won, but Rodgers choked. Another problem with the man is that he's injury prone. I doubt he would last a whole season. Trade him and get something, anything for him. The Packers need to draft a high QB and pray that Favre changes his mind and returns one more year at least. And FIRE TED THOMPSON!!!! |
