soccer mom's- how do you cope when daughter or son has injury?

my daugher may be out the whole season, we are both disappointed but nothing i say seems to comfort her? she is shy to begin with and this is her outlet for making friends--repost under parenting to find more answers.

Re direct her into a new hobby, something that none or few of her friends do.. raising rabbits??? Get her involved in a Youth organization that will get her out with new kids. 4-H is good.

how do you cope... a few months ago, my friend's son got head injury in his ear was hit by ball while he was playing cricket with his friends and he was taken to the hospital for an emergency treatment. my daughter asked me..mom, how many times have had to take him to the emergency room? well that was not the time for discussion, but i drove to school where that boy is studying... just i tried to think back.. He already felldown while getting in school bus, when he was 7 years old and any kid will fall. right ? Again, when he fast running fell down got breaking his wrist and surprisingly whenever he met injury i rush for help and hence my daughter raised the question to me. now, it is his 5th injury coming to emergency room 5th time. now, i know boys or girls supposed to be active and don't feel for gender thing. more are likely to have injuries. Don't go back. soft approaches and nice behaviours are the first medicines that children needs from parents. you asked how to copeup..nothing to copeup..be as usual and do work as usual and behave with your daughter as usual.. is a training necessary or advice? you can reherse safe methods, since we are not at class rooms or at play grounds or at gym and take needy, appropriate steps.. seasons are not the matter and recovery is the matter and there is nothing for disappointment and in fact it is her best beginning again with care which will lead her success. What is there to get shy? she can achieve more than you, me and all and you need patience.. watch her.. and think my words just after some years..

it will be hard to sit out the while season but it's going to be better so that the injury will be completely. just tell her you need to make sure it 100 % heals so she can play next season too. hope she gets better!

I know it is difficult. I have seen MANY children who were hurt and still came to the games to cheer on their teammates. It could be used as a good sportsmanship builder. It may be difficult at first but in the end she will still be able to bond with the players for next year.

I know you're disappointed, but it is what it is, and moping and feeling sorry for herself isn't going to make her get better faster. Perhaps she can sit on the bench during the games, so that she feels a part of the team.

A little moping at first is ok, but after a week -- get over it, kiddo. Life goes on. You, as mom, need to get matter-of-fact about it and stop killing her with sympathy.

you just have to deal with it its just and injury and when you play sport thats what comes with it there is not much you can do she just has to get over it and do what the doctors say and then she will heal faster and will be able to get back to playing if not playing at least train then that way she still gets to see all the friends
