Should the cricket ball be replaced with something more aerodynamic and less

likely to cause injury?
How about a special type of tennis ball? I mean some of those players strike it to 100 mph plus so whats the problem?

like a arrow or something???

more aerodynamic means less force against it. so the object whatever your suggesting will travel faster than the cricket ball

A cricket ball is spherical and already quite aerodynamic! The only thing more aerodynamic could be bullets! Would that cause less injuries?

The way we have become such a 'nanny' state in Britain at the moment, it is probably already on the cards!!

No way! It's part of the game.
How many times as a child have you been hit with the ball whilst playing? Rolling on the ground in agony, and all your friends, girls as well as boys (small village, not enough lads for a game) telling you to get up or you will be bowled out.
No such thing then as protective headgear, the batsmen shared a pair of pads (if the owner wasn't out shopping with his mam) and the poor 'wickety' didn't even get a glove.
Back to the question. With an aerodynamic ball, you would loose the effect of 'spin' to a large extent, and therefore the batsman would know what the track of the ball would be and stay at the crease all day. Not what gives to entertaining cricket I would think
