Are Heart attacks from injury treated the same as normal heart attack?

My dad had a heart attack in august 07 he was paraplegic spent most of the time in bed he was also diagnosed with small cell lung cancer 4 months later he died of chemo complicatons on 24th of march 08. Heart attack i think it was due to a injury to the left side of the chest it was more like a fall there was no signs of injury on the outside just like push to rib cage, doctors didn't take any xrays. Heart attack was treated as a normal heart attack he took blod thining meds after but how can that cause heart attack did the rib cage bones injury the heart can they? and could heart attack contribute to him getting lung cancer?
