year+ old self-injury scar still tender?

I have a scar on my ankle from self-harm, it was very deep. The scar healed flush with my skin, it's not raised or sunken. but when pressure is applied or I twist my ankle just right it hurts. It didn't get infected. Why is a scar that old still hurting?

Yes, I am aware of the dangers of self-harm, and am in therapy. Just wanted to make that clear, before I got a few answers telling me so

you probably damaged nerves in that area, tiny lttle blood vessels that will never be the same, the scar will probably always be tender. I had a hernia removed from my lowr tummy area and the skin below it is still numb, the feeling never came back and sometimes when I have an itch I cant scratch it , it just feels weird.......and the scars I have underneath my under arm from having the MRSA bacteria there abscess about 8 under each arm, they had to be lanced drained and cleaned out, by digging into the hole cleaning and scraping, they numbed it up first but I still get buring stabbling pain there every so often, sometimes i think "oh no, another one is coming" the skin around the scar will never be the same like it was but atleast its healed eh? and you're doing better, its all that matters, I hope you find the love within yourself to see what a good person you are that no one on this planet is perfect, love you for just you and poo on every one who doest feel the same way about you. My road rash scars all still get itchy and scrwed up feeling at night or after a shower. i got them years back
