OWA has a spectacular aura about
What to do with my dog's injury?

I have two Shepherd mix dogs.
My oldest one is a shepherd/husky mix, and my youngest is a shepherd/rot mix.
This happened back in December, a few months after getting the younger dog. My eldest dog injured his left paw because he plays with rocks and tries what ever he can do to lift them. He developed this odd habit after my family took in the younger dog.
We noticed he was limping, so I took him into the vets. The vet gave him some medicine which really did nothing. Well, it did at first, but I noticed the main thing is that he likes to play roughly with the younger dog which he tries to jump up and push the younger dog down. Because of this he is constantly putting pressure on the injured paw.The vet wants us to keep him off his feet, but we have since found this to be impossible because he is a very active dog. We can't separate the two dogs because the younger dog will become hysterical, start barking excessively, and try to dig himself out of our yard.
I need help badly.

if its actually a big issue and you want him to heal and you aren't like terribly strapped for money i would look at a dog wheelchair or cart, just until his paw is healed enough. look around the website eddieswheels.com, it has carts for dogs with limited use of their front or back paws.

they're kind of expensive, but you can buy used ones.

I don't know if this is at all possible, but what about some sort of sling? Like if there was some way to keep his paw suspended off the ground so he won't step on it. Dogs do very well on three legs, but you could probably only making him wear it during the day when he isn't sleeping. I don't know, it may sound like a completely ridiculous idea, lol.

Is the injury like he pulled something or broke a bone, or like lacerations? It's hard to give advice because I don't know the exacts of his injury, but perhaps you could just wrap up the paw to kind of cushion it?
