Has your toddler ever had an injury and required stitches?

What happened exactly, what can I do to reduce the trauma of having the stitches removed? My daughter has 5 stitches that need to be removed and she is only 19 months. I want to minimize the trauma for her...Also is it painful to have stitches removed? I have never had stitches.

My 2 year old cousin was jumping on the couch and fell off and had to ge stitches right above his eye brow, we told him he did such a good job and he was so happy and proud of him self! getting them out i don't know about, there are one's that dissolve which sound really good for a little kid but i have no idea! She will be fine, and it probably wont traumatize her for when she grows up she will just have a cool story to tell her friends! good luck!

I've had stitches a few times including when I was 5. They generally do not hurt to be taken out unless one is particularly glued in. Just bring something to distract the child and all will be fine.
