| Permanent Disability for unemloyed due to injury?
My father was hurt on the job 25 years ago and was covered by workers compensation insurance. He was listed as partially permanently disabled due to the injury to his knee and was given the right to future medical treatment if neccesary. Now at the age of 60 he had to sell his business because he could no longer work with the injury. He has requested medical treatment and is in the process of see a orthopedic doctor. Since he is no longer able to work can he apply for disability benefits?

You don't say what his work was, but presumably he is skilled in that and nothing else. He can certainly apply for disability benefit. If he is passed as being permanently disabled, then he will be covered indefinitely. I would advise him to get help in filling in the form, which is not altogether straightforward. They are very good at this at the CAB. If he is initially turned down, then he should persist by appealing to the Disability Appeals Tribunal. I wish him well.
