Wrist injury?

I was playing with my kids earlier, and I smacking the inside of my wrist really hard against the table. It hurt like hell and sent pain up my arm. The spot where you can normally see a faint blue line from a vein (or artery i dunno which it is) that blue line is now really dark blue and really swollen. I can move my wrist (it hurts but i can deal) but if i try to bend it back at all, i cant, it hurts too bad. The blue line thats swollen goes all the way onto the palm of my hand, and that hurts too. Did i just bust a big vein or something and the swelling is making it hurt so bad, or could i have done something worse? Its spotted around the blue line as well, little pink dots all over. I have 2 kids here alone, so i am not going to attept an ER trip, just wondering if once it stops swelling it will hurt less...
