...physical injury? I have a friend who suffers from leukimia. He is about 13 right now. He has had it for about a year and a half. When he was about 11, he got hit very hard on the back with a pipe, right on the spine. I know the bone marrow is located close to the spine and that leukimia has to do with failure of the bone marrow. Leukimia doesn't run in his family, and my friend led a decently healthy lifestyle. He ate junk food often, but he was not fat. Could the physical damage be the cause of the leukimia?

No, bone marrow is located in every bone in the body, not just by the spine.

The usual causes of leukemia are exposure to radiation and mutative chemicals. Before nuclear testing, childhood leukemia was unheard of.

It's all about the Nuclear Age.

There are different types of leukemia , but Im not aware of any type that is caused by injuries. Childhood leukemia has a high survival rate .

I'm a middle aged person and when I was a kid , there was no survival . Medicine has improved.

You are a good friend.
