self injury..self mutilation...cutting...?

i dont really get it...parents are freaked and my mom wouldnt send me to counsling after i asked until she figured out i cut and then she threw me into it. i really dont understnad why people are freaking out over this..its a release and its calming..i understand that if you go too deep you could die..but if you dont whats the big deal..there are alot of bigger issues to worry about like...hmm...drugs and sex and other things..i guess i dont get the big deal...

well, ur parents obviously care about u and they want u to stop. they don't want u hurting urself on purpose cuz they don't even like it when its an accident. sometimes ppl do tend to overreact but its just cuz they dont know as much about the subject at hand. about 40% of teens have self-inflicted wounds at least once, but adults still don't know very much about this large problem common in teens. this is partially cuz not even modern medicine completely understands the reasoning behind this strange behavior. im sure they would overreact way more if the subject at hand were sex or drugs, cuz they know more about those things. it may be a little confusing now, but in the future u will come to realize why its such a bad thing. if u would like to talk my email is ilovedrums13@yahoo.com and my yahoo messenger screen name is ilovedrums13

Of course you dont see the big deal because you like to do this, it is your release but what your doing is simply trying to justify your behavior. Cutting and self injury is an addiciton like drugs etc..Its your way to escape the pain and it has LIFE LONG effects. Trust me i have been a cutter/picker/self injuror since i was12 yrs old and i am now 29. I have horrid scares all over my body and it is humilating to have people stare and ask questions etc..It will effect you in getting a job, it wll effect you when you wanna go to a beach for someting and you cant cause you have scares.
My answer is not about judging you, it is a little dose of tough love. Your wrong, it is a VERY big deal. If your in that much pain that you are so numb you need to cut to feel then you are pretty far down the scale. You need to try to get serious about whatever pain your running from. You deserve better then this, realize that and say fuck you to who ever hurt you. As long as you hurt yourself, your still there victim, dont let that happen. Fight back for your own life!!

If you're looking for relases, you should just look at porn or masturbate if you're that bad.

Normally, I wouldn't endorse porn/ masturbation, but it's better than cutting yourself. They're pleasureable and safer releases than cutting yourself or risking having unprotected or outside of marriage sex.

Or go exercise, listen to music, or punch a pillow.

You can turn to people for help, such as your minister, neighbor, friend, family member, counselor, or doctor.

Suicide is stupid.

There's no need to apply a permanent solution (In this case suicide) to a temporary problem. (In this case, pain)

Take it from me, Ive battled tons of depression through my life.

I know what you're going through.

However, take heart though. You can get doctored back up mentally.

I've talk to people who've contemplated suicide before and they were really serious about it. However, when they decided to take a step back, seek help for themselves, and allowed themselves time to get over their problems, they realized that ending their own lives would've been A TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE MISTAKE. And they were glad to solve their problems and not take the suicidal way out.
