Will I be safe playing basketball with this kind of back injury(Help!!!)?

I had a herniated disc for about 6 months. The last time I played ball was sometime last year in the summer. Its a warm day outside and I wanna go play basketball.I live in nyc and it really hasnt been warm that lately.
Will be ok for me to play basketball?I actually have no idea when this is gonna heal,it could be years from now.Im actually doing physical therapy for my back now. They told me they wouldnt recommend me to do play ball but if I do it,make sure I do the back and scretching exericses.
Is it safe for me to play ball?has anybody played ball with a herniated disc?I also have a back brace that I plan on wearing if I do play basketball

yup it is a good day here in the ny area. Too bad im working . Anyway about your back, it should be ok if you dont jump. Try practicing free throws so you dont move around too much.
