How do you get rid of a tendon injury?And how long will it take?

Ok im a 14 year old guy and i got in a fight 6 months ago and hurt my wrist. The doctor said that it is my tendon and said some out stupid things. (Shes a useless doctor). I want to know how long it will take to get rid of it and how to get rid of the pain for a little bit. Also I play basketball almost everyday. So a wrist injury is not good for me. Can someone help? And by the way should I get surgery?
