Knee pain and bruising without any injury or falls?

I walked into the kitchen on Sunday and my knee locked up and I had severe pain. Iced and elevated knee and foot appeared to have all the pain. So I went to my foot doctor and no injury in foot. Monday evening I started have deep tissue bleeding show up in a circle around the knee. Also, have swelling and redness. I have not been able to walk on it have crutches from the dr. I have an appt. on Friday for x-rays and the knee specialist. I am freaked out....any one have any ideas? The knee does move and the pain became more localized to the knee today. But, the bruising has been getting worse and more spread out as time goes by.
