| If you can learn to live with injuries, is it really wrong to not want surgeries?
Some people are quick to say that if you get injured ..say torn ligaments etc.. that you should immediately get surgery. But what if you have many parts of your body torn..do you really expect everyone to be able to afford all that. I'm 28 and i've learned to live with some tears.. currentlyi have: 1. knee torn since 2000.. I just dont do hardcore fast running. and i can't do squats or bend my knees fully.. it's ok though 2. Chest torn since year 1999- I just dont do fast pushups anymore.. and when i do boxing or any thing like that, i never do punches at full speed. If i wash the car i do it slowly. If i do that, then i have no pain ever. If i dont do it.. then i get extreme pain in the center of the chest. 3. thigh with some tears. I just keep from doing any hardcore thigh exercises or running. 4. throat/ neck muscle tear or nerve damage. it causes me to have extreme pain when i pass food. - i deal with it by pressin on my neck when i pass food. that minimizes the p i have alot more things. Recently i even got a dumb shouldr injury and i dont know what it will happen but i'm not gonna get surgery. So far it's been one week and the pain went from bad to almost none. |

It is a personal choice; it has only been in the last 50 years or so that people even had the option of having surgery to fix the problem and not just learn to live with it. Another reason, besides the obvious cost and time off from work for a surgery that is anytime you go under anesthesia for anything, there is a risk of heart attack or that you may never come out from under it. There is also you can wake up during surgery in pain (this did happen to me) and have to be put back under again and suffer even a greater risk of not coming out of the anesthesia induced coma. |
