Knee injury...?

Last week, on Monday, while playing tennis, I injured my right knee. It happened when I planted on my right leg with great force while going for a wide shot to my right. I felt like something popped out towards the right. I am still in pain, and my knee is still swollen. I don't have full range in motion either (I can't straighten or bend it completely). I have scheduled an appointment with an orthapedic, but I am anxious for people' input.

Can anyone help diagnose the injury?

Keep in mind that I play a lot of cutting sports including volleyball in tennis. At least three times a week, I am doing some sort of fitness. I completely tore my left ACL about a year ago, and I never repaired it so I could continue playing varsity sports (high school). I have a history with knee injuries on my left leg, but never my right.

sounds like you may have a torn cartilage...I turned my foot while it was planted on the ground and tore the cartilage in my knee, had the same symptoms

Best thing to do is ice and ibuprofen. Both will help with swelling. If it hurts too bad, go to the ER or your family doctor and ask for a stronger pain killer until you can get to an orthapedist. Until you see your orthapedist, keep your leg elevated to allow fluid to drain from the injured area. Use plenty of ice to also help with swelling.
It sounds like a ligament tear. I would say most likely meniscus or PCL tear since it was the right side of your right knee, especially if you are slightly unstable. It's also possible for stress fractures as well.
If you truly want to continue in sports, I would recommend getting surgery before your body reabsorbs the soft tissue if it truly is a ligament tear...even if its a partial tear.

unfortunally i had something similar happen to me, i can tell you know that this particular injury sounds like a meniscus injury and if it is still swollen you should elevate it, and ice it.
