| Question about re-injury after fractured hip/pelvis/leg? About 7-8 months ago I took a 4 story fall, landing on my feet. Of course, I got pretty messed up...but considering the distance I fell I was lucky. I fractured my tibia/fibula of my right leg, as well as my pelvis. I also had to have a plate screwed into my right hip.
My question is, now that all this time has passed I'm starting to wonder how safe it would be for me, or really how likely it is that I might re-injur myself if I were to partake in certain physical activities.
At this point, the only thing I'm really involved in is paintballing which involves a lot of running and sliding. What I'd really like to know, however, is what I should NOT do. You know, what if in the future I should find the need to climb over a wall and jump down from the other side. THAT kinda thing. It would be very useful for me to know just what I'd be able to safely do.
Everything that my doctors have told me has basically led me to believe that I was on the path to a full recovery as of 5 months ago. I asked one of my orthopedists when, for example, would it be OK for me to play full-contact football and he said 3 months from the date of injury.
I haven't had any real pain since my recovery, although I have had some "sensations" up in the hip. |
