What Leg Injury Is This?

The upper backside of my left thigh is hurting. Not a sharp pain, but a numbing sensation pain whenever I make an initial motion on my leg (usually when I'm sitting down or in bed and move my left leg, the 1st move will hurt) But then the repetitive or continuous motions following that wouldn’t hurt. It doesn’t hurt when I stretch it. When I pound gently on that area with my hands to massage it, it feels better. Is this a muscle strain or hamstring pull? Or something else?

a muscle strain and pull are the same thing..
so you most likely pulled your hamstring.

It may be your lower back. The numbing sensation may be what's called neuropathy. That usually stems from the nerve root of the lower back. Have you recently suffered a lower back injury from lifting something wrong?
Chiropractic care can help but most likely you have a lower back strain. Put some ice on it 3 x/day then after 2 days apply heat to this area with a heating blanket or something. Ten minutes at a time. Take Ibuprofen 3-4 tablets 3 times a day and no more. Decrease this amount as things get better. Start doing light stretches by doing toe touches. Get a tennis ball and put it between you and a wall. Massage the area that hurts starting from the center of the pain and going outwards. That should resolve you leg issue in a few days. If not, get to a health care provider.
