| 16 year old son driving without insurance at dad's house-What are primary
custodians' liabilities? My husband and I have concerns about my son being allowed to drive with friends without being insured. I am primary custodian. His dad has custody of him on every 3rd weekend of the month and the first full week of each month. If my son is in a major accident (God forbid) where occupants are killed, would someone be able to sue us also?

Even if he is in a fender bender he will get in trouble, as will the owner of the vehicle, as will the parents of the teen. So yes, everyone will feel the backlash of no insurance. But what is one more uninsured motorist with little driving skills going to hurt? Make one of those two idiots get insurance. If the x cant afford it, junior will have to get out and get a job. If you want to play, you have to pay. If he doesn't want to pay, you will, eventually.
