| Insurance Fraud?
My husband and I are seperated. He has a car registered and insured in his name only with GEICO. My name was on the insurance policy as a second driver. I know he is not good at paying his bills and I think he will let the insurance lasp. I tried to have my name taken off the policy but they refused. Even though we are living apart we have not started the legal seperation yet. I am worried this may affect my licence or if I try to get insurance or registration of my own. Is this legal for an insurance company to do?

your situation is in now way Ins fraud. You were married, now your seperated. If his insurance lapses and he gets into an accident then you would have something to worry about, but they aren't going to report you to the credit bureau for lapsed insurance. As far as registration, insurance is required...but it will not affect your license or your registration...Maybe now is the time to get the legal seperation started, to cover yourself.
