Does anyone know how a person can get cancer treatment if thier insurance...

...has denied their claim? My nephew has been diagnosed with maxilliary sinus cancer. . A portion of the nasal sinus cancer was unable to be removed via surgery due to the locations of the cancer on a nerve in Joe's lower brain. He will need a special radiation that is only available in 6 places in the world, Joe was slated to have his radiation done at Harvard.
Joe's cancer is what is considered a reoccurring cancer, meaning there is a high likely hood that his cancer will come back. This is where the GOOD NEWS comes in; Although this type of radiation is rare none of the patients have had a reoccurrence ! Here's the bad news: His insurance has denied his claim for the radiation and now Harvard is saying they cannot take him unless they are guaranteed payment up front. He is only 21 years old and now because of the cancer he is unable to work or attend school which was allowing him to stay on his parents insurance.
Does anyone know anyone I could write to get some type of grants or assistance for him?

you could call medicaid or medical, if you over qualify, there should be state insurance program you pay for.

it's a start, also you might be able to get into touch with a pharmacutical company doing study trials which all meds are paid for.

you can also call this:Call 1-800-4-CANCER

For more information, U.S. residents may call the National Cancer Institute's (NCI's) Cancer Information Service toll-free at 1-800-4-CANCER (1-800-422-6237) Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Deaf and hard-of-hearing callers with TTY equipment may call 1-800-332-8615. The call is free and a trained Cancer Information Specialist is available to answer your questions.
