i was approved for a loan but not for mortgage insurance?

can anyone offer advice. we were approved for a home loan and the bank said to go and sign up for a property which is to settle in just over a fortnight and they have now rang and said we cant get mortgage insurance, so there is nothing else they said they can do. is there anything we can do?
