I hate to say it but its considered illegal to do that (its insurance fraud) You would have to "sell" your car to your parents, have it remain at their house and you would need to be listed as a driver. If you arent listed as a driver and you have a loss not only does that give the insurance company grounds to decline any claim that may arise and leave you in more dire financial need then you are now, it gives them grounds to cancel your parents insurance for non-disclosure of information and be criminally penalized This is turn would cause your parents a big hassle in obtaining other insurance as a record is kept and usually when a new policy is signed an insurance history report is pulled. Something like being cancelled for non-disclosure can cause them to be insured by a residual insurance company that covers high risk and premiums for this are usually about triple normal rates. I wouldnt risk it because its very easy for an insurance company to put surveillance on someone and that could not be fun Youre best bet is to insure it yourself, and I hate to say it but if you cant afford it maybe buying a vehicle should be put off, just for yours and your parents safety, or try and find another source of income, second job or something that could earn you enough to cover your premiums. Good luck I hope you make the right choice

Can a person be added to a car insurance without being listed as the driver?

I'm going to be getting a car soon, and I don't make enough to pay for car insurance on my own. I need to know is it possible for my parents to put the car im driving on their insurance, but not have me listed as the driver, because if they do their insurance can go up extremely since i'm under 25.
