MY husband just realized, we both realized that we invested a lot of time in a

relationship with someone who? is a sociopath. We looked at the profile and everything. We feel spiritually raped and thankful that we left with our relationship intact. How do I help my husband, who had a deeper friendship with this person get over it ?

Ok first you have to remember that a sociopath lacks the ability to feel empathy. They have no remorse for what they have done. The best way I think is to just forget it, maybe even go away for a while so you can forget your problems.
Second I agree counselling helps or at least join a support group. Down below is a website link for an online support group for pple who are sociopath victims.

Keep your mind of it for now, do something that your mind is distracted, dont follow the routes that was used by the other person, meet new people.

Be supportive, he will feel used but he will get over it, and rebuild his trust in people again, but for the moment move on and enjoy your time together and with other friends you have

I have had a recent experience with a sociopath myself, the best way to simply move on is to realise that this was not personal for them and you were simply an object to them. That said its also helpful to realise that no matter what the circumstances are you would do the same thing over again, how you treat people says more about you than those you help. Its not your fault, you could never have foreseen this.

You can help by being supportive and just being there for him. But he does need to get some professional help too.
