The Knights Templar - What are there aims? is it just to protect the holy Grail?Im roman Catholic, it there a set religon you need to be to join ? or is it for anyone?I live in scotland, how do i go about joining?

you cant really join, seeing as how they were disbanded over 700 years ago.Their religion is in doubt; its along story. Do some reading. A yahoo answer wont really suffice.

The Knights Templar where warrior Monks that protected Christians, their belongings and their land. Ironically, it was these very same people that had them arrested, tortured and murdered. The Knights of the Templar Order do not exist anymore. They were banned by Franceand the Pope in coalition. There are a few opinions about the Holy Grail, that they were supposed to have found and needed to protect. One of the opinions is that the Holy Grail were Mary Magdalene' final remains found somewherein a small village in the Southern France.

The Templars were savagely put down by the Pope and the King of France centuries ago - massacred is a better word. This cruel misdeed was perpetrated on the Friday the thirteenth and it is this which gives rise to the superstition regarding that date.Their original aims were the protection of pilgrims to the Holy Land, though they later became very rich and were a powerful 'political' voice at the time. They no longer exist except in the minds of conspiracy theorists and people like the green gentleman above.
