I think it is an outrage that the US deployed nuclear weapons on civilians without any nessesarity and then teach their childeren that it saved japanese lives.

Tell your teacher that. Also, please read my comment on the other recent question about hiroshima and nagasaki. It should be easy to find as it is the only one that disapproves the bombs.

If the war had not been ended by the Japanese surrender after the dropping of the bombs, then the U.S. was planning to invade the Main islands of Japan. If this had happened, then arguably, the war would have gone on much longer and many more American and Japanese soldiers (as well as Japanese civilians) would have been killed fighting in Japan. The bombs were horrible tragedies but in a way, were a better alternative to war in Japan for both countries.
