ask the difference bet. ? ji and ? ji. I am just confuse with these two characters in terms of its function. please do answer thank you so much

Komban wa. Koko de, Nyuu Jirando de , 8 pm desu. The second hiragana is pronounced chi, not ji. The first one's pronunciation is correct. Spokoynoye noche, tomodachi.

one is a chi and the other is a shi!
