switching languages?

i took french for a whole year but i am switching to german next year and will take it my last three years of high school. my mom doesn't want me too because she thinks its a bad idea and also that french is a more useful language. but i think that german wall ultimately be a more enjoyable class. do you think it was the wring decision?

I think you should study the language that you want to study, French is indeed more useful than German, but German is not useless, if you enjoy German, study German.German should also be more similar to English and probably easier to learn for an English speaker.

Well, I do have to agree with your mom with French being a more useful language. It's just much more widely spoken than German which is mostly confined to eastern Europe. But if you're really not enjoying French then I do encourage you to switch. It's important to enjoy the language that you're learning so if you think you'll like German, switch. But before you do this make sure this is something you really want to do. I would suggest going on some different websites and researching the language a bit. You might also want to try learning some basic German online to help you decide if you really like it.

take german. for me, german is much more similar to english and i think you could do great with it. also, i got pronounciation down quickly and the other stuff is all quite easy too. you just gotta want to learn it.besides, dont miss out on a good chance to learn a language that is barely offered anymore! youre lucky your school has it! my school only has french and spanish.and german is useful. especially if you want to major in a science major.oh, and i think it will be more enjoyable, cuz im sure enjoying learning it.have fun!
