Do YOU visit zoos?

I don't. Yeah, it is for animal rights but I'll support my reason.Them main reason I decide not to go to zoos, is because most go there to see an animal in it's natural habit. To explore it in wild life, correct? But I feel the opposite. What are we learning about the animal in its "natural, wildlife habit" if it's held in captivity. In my eyes, I see it as a scam, especially since they do not let people see the situation in this prospective. Another reason, would be how they train their animals to do tricks. You'd think if the animal does not feel like practicing that day, that they would see how hard the animal has worked through the animals eyes and let it rest. BUT, they tend to hit the animals, use foul language, and others forces to MAKE the animal cooperate. I have nothing at all against people who do choose to go to the zoo as well as others who choose to eat meat. Please answers my question on why or why not you go to the zoo, as well in supporting your answer like I. ^.^I also do not go to circus for the same reason.................well for the training reason. ^.^Silly Me! Sorry you guys! Every time I put "habit" I meant "habitat" Just wanted to clear that up peeps!^.^

I eat animals all day everyday, but I don't go to zoos. I just don't see any joy in looking at caged animals.

Zoo's i don't have a problem with. I don't know of any training going on at our zoo for animal tricks.BUT I am vehemently against the circus. They DO train their animals, and it's horrifying how they go about it. It's no wonder some circus animals go crazy and try to escape. Especially the elephants!!

No, and I don't bring my kids to them either. I don't think we should take animals out of their natural environment and cage them for human enjoyment. I think the same of circuses, too. Funny I'm not a vegetarian.

I agree. I never really like zoos.We went to the zoo for a field trip a month ago and it was so boring! Geesh, I love animals and all, but the zoo (along with the aquarium) just bore me to death. And the poor animals have small little "habitats."Before the field trip, it has been years since I've gone to a zoo, and I don't plan on going anytime soon!

I agree with "Jay K", I don't experience any enjoyment when looking at caged animals. When you put a human in a cage (prison), he knows why he's in there. But when you put an animal in a cage, he doesn't know what he did wrong.Removing an animal from its natural habitat for human enjoyment is absolutely ridiculous.

I go to the San Diego Zoo, I am a member and I know that what I spend goes into some conservation and breeding programs. Sometimes zoo's are very sad places, unfortunately they may just be the only places where we will be able to protect certain species from total extinction and that is what many zoo's are trying to transform themselves into; places of preservation by having breeding and educational programs.

I am perfectly fine with zoos. They provide the animals with excellent food, health care and give animals an easy, enjoyable life. I have only been to the zoo in Vancouver so my views might be biased, but I believe the animals are generally perfectly happy in zoos.

I don't agree with imprisoning animals in zoos. The cages and enclosures deprive animals of their basic needs. Zoos generally view the animals as commodities, so animals are often bought, sold, and traded without any consideration for the relationships established between animals.Zoos generally prevent (or severely restrict) natural behaviors like flying, swimming, running, climbing, scavenging, foraging, and partner selection. The animals often show neurotic or self-destructive behaviors like pacing, head-bobbing, and self-mutilation. This results from the physical and mental frustrations of captivity. Most animals in zoos are not endangered. Breeding programs just provide cute baby animals to attract visitors and generate $$$. Captive breeding does nothing to address the problems that are causing the world's biodiversity to decline... destruction of habitat, climate change, etc. Also, zoos waste millions of dollars on things like statues, gift shops, and concession stands. Imagine if that money was instead donated to habitat preservation projects, how much more good that would do.Imprisoning animals isn't the way to save them. Preventing animals from becoming extinct depends on protecting their natural habitats.Well, that's my spiel Study: Zoo-Life Causes Animal Stresshttp://dsc.discovery.com/news/afp/20030929/zoostress.html
