Many of the countries that speak French were colonized by France, therefore they speak the same langauge. It's the same deal with English. We Americans speak English but the language clearly didn't originate from here. It came from... England.

iLike it was stated before all French speaking countries were originally French colonies and the people of those French nations still speak it, just America and Canada speak English. And just as Australians, Canadians and Americans have very different accents, so do the French countries like Belize, the Canadian province of Quebec and Mauritania. The Quebec accent does not sound like the Parisian accent. But they have the same words, but slang is different just as England an apartment is Flat, cell pĥone is mobile and guy is Bloke.I think any country that belongs to the "La Francophone" speaks French (except for the US and Algeria) one of their official languages is French. In Canada, we got two French and English.

well..they were colonized by the french (from France). In my country, we have french as one of the official languages ...BUT...we were colonized by Belgium. We suppose to speak "Wallon" and "Flamand" two of the language spoken there. What i've heard is that they "Belgium" didn't make our ancestors learn those two languages because they didn't want our ancestors to know their plans and stuff about colonizaton. so instead, they made them speak french! .... that;s how we ended up speaking french...( in school though)...but after school...HELL, we speak our own language
