| Proper pronoun in French Creole? I work with a woman who is French Creole. She speaks extremely little English, and speaks both Spanish and French Creole. I know enough French to communicate fairly well, but I am not sure of which pronoun to refer to her by: informal or formal. I remember my French teacher telling us that in some Creole languages, the formal tense doesn't exist or is barely used. I don't want to end up insulting her, though, by using the "tu" form. Can someone clear this up for me? I'd really appreciate it. |
