why do japanese men look for wives outside japan?

Hi,
My japanese friend told me that most Japanese men these days look to Vietnam, China, Philippines, etc, for wives. They try not to settle for Japanese women. Is this true? I find Japanese women most beautiful among the Asians. Yet these men look for wives outside. What is wrong? Is there something about Japanese women that I am unaware of?
