How do you say Fort in Japanese, not symbols!?

toride (=fort, fortress, citadel, castle), yousai (=fortress, fort)
Fort (army) = jousetsu chuutonchi

ex.
the army attacked the fort.
gun wa yousai wo kougeki shita.

wipe a fort off the map
toride wo zenmetsu saseru

hold the fort
toride wo mamoru

These are some of the ways you could say it. They come from different parts of Japan so either one is fine. Hope this helps!
