Why it is said that language immersion is the most effective way to learn...

...a second language? I'm working on my essay.I need reasons.
Thank you.
heyheyhey, I am old enough to write an essay. But I am an English learner! How can I manage my thoughts in a language that I'm not familiar with?? That's the reason I ask for help. If you think it's boring , simply do not answer.

Because you're constantly bombarded by that language, and rarely by your own. So you're forced to start thinking in that language.

Because you learn through need and not self being. There is a need for you to learn all the vocab and everything else so you naturally do.

And it's not boring because you learn by doing not by studying. That's how most of us first language welsh speakers learn English in Western Wales. By going out and experiencing different language that being English and eventually you find you are just as good in that language as you are in your native language.

Welsh is mine but the standard of my English is very good .
I can also speak fluent Afrikaans. Ek praat baie goed afrikaans. A rwy'n siarad Cymraeg yn Naturiol. Ich spreche deutsch aber nicht echt gut und ich muss mein deutsch besseren machen aber ich habe das gelernt wann ich in deutschland war.

See what i mean .

The way I understand about Language Immersion is to participate on direct conversations with people of that language.
Not trough translation.

You seriously can't figure this out on your own? C'mon. Just think about it a little bit. If you're old enough to write an essay you're old enough to establish your own thoughts and ideas.

Simply because if you're taking a foreign language class in your native language, you simply leave that class, and bam! it's back to being surrounded with your primary language. The new language doesn't stick as much if you're thinking primarily in your native language.

However, if you were to go to a foreign country, it goes from being a matter of academic interest to a matter of survival. For instance, I was raised in a tri-lingual household (we all spoke English but my father taught me Spanish and my mother taught me French), and I went to Spain with a friend of mine who grew up speaking only English. Now, he had studied Spanish for about 6 years, but by the time we got there, it was as if none of that had any use, because he hadn't been completely exposed to the language. He would take class, and then go home and speak English. However, after one week of being in Spain, he could speak it near fluently (he could do all right before we left, but now he can speak it without problems). This is simply because your brain makes a major effort to really learn the language, simply because it becomes a matter of survival.

The reason is because you are totally immersed in the langage you are learning. If you want to communicate, you are forced to speak the foreign language. If you take a foreign language class in your home country, the only time you speak the language is in class. But in another country, you must learn! I am a perfect example. I am currently studying abroad in France and before coming here 6 months ago, I spoke not one word of French. But now after taking classes and being surrounded by the language, I can understand almost anything and can speak it well also!

Mainly because the language stops being an academic school subject that is external to you and becomes a real, hands-on experience, something that you need IMMEDIATELY and not at some later date that might never come. You have to deploy what you know on the spot to understand and be understood, you cannot worry overmuch about mistakes, and you have to develop strategies (paraphrasing, requesting repetition, finding out what you want to know from dictionaries, eliciting what you want to know from your interlocutor) that enhance learning. It's a bit like being pushed into a swimming pool - you had better learn to swim somehow, fast!
