YES you can definitely pass french. I know that when I took french for the first time in Pre-IB, it was difficult, but the teacher knows that this is a first introduction for most and s/he will go slowly. Don't worry, you'll learn the basic at first like comment-t'appelle-tu? J'ai ...ans, etc. And you'll learn basic verbs that are important like avoir, etre, venir, but nothing hard. The subject does get a bit harder like learning to make sentences, and reading, and answering without help from the text, but its very easy. I passed my IB french exam, and that was a piece of cake. If you have some difficulty understanding at first, ask the teacher to repeat what s/he says and just ask questions. To keep up with the language, just remember to practice saying the words, and do the examples. Good luck
