| I need a french food recipe... can you help me? I have to do a project on a french food. Soups, or desserts would be best. I just need the name of the food and the ingredients list. Can anybody help? I've looked everywhere! |

| GATEAU LEGER FRENCH DESSERT 6 egg yolks 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1 lb. sweet butter, melted Zest of 1 lemon Pinch of salt 6 egg whites Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Whisk egg yolks and sugar together until thick and lemon yellow. Add flour, butter, lemon, and salt. Mix well. Beat egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Gently fold whites into first mixture. Butter a rectangular cake pan and dust with sugar. Pour mixture into pan and bake for 30 minutes or until brown on top. Serves 8-10. FRENCH APPLE DESSERT 4 c. diced apples (peeled) 2 eggs 2 c. sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. salad oil 1/2 c. chopped nuts 2 c. unsifted flour 2 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt Place apples in mixing bowl. Break eggs over apples and stir well. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Add to apples with salad oil and nuts. Mix. Sift together the flour, soda and salt. Add to first mixture and beat well. Put into a greased and floured 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 45 minutes. Cut into squares and serve with Caramel Sauce. Makes 12 servings. CARAMEL SAUCE: 1 c. brown sugar (packed) 1 c. granulated sugar 1 c. heavy cream 1/2 c. butter 2 tbsp. flour 2 tsp. vanilla Put sugars, cream, butter and flour into a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook, stirring until mixture thickens a little. Stir in vanilla and serve hot over French Apple Dessert Squares. FRENCH CHERRY DESSERT 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten 1 c. sugar 22 soda crackers, crushed (unsalted) 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. cider vinegar 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1 env. Dream Whip, prepared according to pkg. 1 can cherry pie filling 1/2 c. powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 (8 oz.) pkg. softened cream cheese Gradually beat sugar into beaten egg whites. Add vanilla and vinegar. Combine crackers, baking powder, and nuts. Fold into egg whites. Spread into 9 x 13 inch buttered dish. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream cheese to prepared Dream Whip. Beat until smooth and spread over baked egg white mixture. Chill 1 hour or more. Gently spoon cherry pie filling over cream cheese layer and refrigerate until firm. |
