I would say (and I can't prove this at all...don't know how you would...) that if it has something to do with technology- "computadora"- the English came first. Same thing with the sports- basquetbol, beisbol, etc. (since in Spanish there is no such thing as a "basquet" or a "bol"!) However, I do think that a lot of other words were probably Latin words first, therefore the English word was created from that. Maybe like "terminar"- "to finish/terminate". Again this is all speculation, so spare me the thumbs down. |
