If English had cases, or if I was translating this into a language with cases...?

...how would I do this?

In the sentence:
I gave her the ball.
Do you decline "ball" for the dative alongside the already dative "her?" Or does "ball" stay in the nominative, or maybe even go into the accusative?

-And-

You are my friend.
Do you decline "friend" for the the genitive, alongside the already genitive "my?" Or does "friend" stay in the nominative, or maybe even go into the accusative?
