How would I phrase this sentence in Spanish correctly?

Then, I went to the ruins of the Huancas, the indigenous people for whom the city of Huancayo was named...
This is what I wrote but it doesnt sound right...
Luego, fui a unas ruinas de las Hunacas, los indígenos por quienes se puso nombre a la ciudad de Huancayo.
Please correct wording, spelling, and make sure the accents are right...thx
