Is this Spanish paragraph correct in grammar?

Lamenté tomar pruebas. No sentí como si ellos indicaran cuanto conocimiento alguien sabía sobre un sujeto. Fui enfadado tomándolos. A mí ellos sólo mostraron a quién la gente con la memoria fotográfica estaba en la clase eran. Y fui nunca uno de ellos. Si usted pudiera memorizar el material durante una hora, usted no tuvo que usarlos otra vez.

I hated taking tests. I did not feel as though they indicated how much knowledge someone knew about a subject. I was angered taking them. To me they just showed who the people with the photographic memory were in the class were. And I was never one of them. If you could memorize the material for an hour, you didn't need to use them again.

don't repeat "ellos" because the subject is "las pruebas". you have to say "ellos" when the subject are people, and a test is a thing
and i think it's better to use "tu" instead "usted" in the last sentence

also, you should use imperfect form because you are telling a story

have you learned the past tense yet? my spanish teacher always catches ppl for using translators b/c there's not only words but concepts we haven't learned. but the grammar seems good to me, except should you be using the usted form of you in the last sentence?
