Cogito Ergo Sum has a spectacular aura about
English. Spanish is a so-called "Romance Language," derived from ancient Latin, and is less versatile than English.

While not directly on point, it is interesting to note that Winston Churchill was of the opinion that one of the principal reasons why the Japanese lost World War II was that their written language, which is pictographic, was incapable of expressing abstract thought.

It would be a considerable overstatement to say that about Spanish, or French, or Italian, or Portuguese, but it is true that English is more versatile and expressive than any of the Romance Languages, including the mother language, Latin itself.

Ohio prof has a spectacular aura about
Although I am a Spanish teacher and absolutely love the language, inside and out, I must say that English is more useful in the world. It has turned out to be a universal language which has helped us communicate with many different people about many things - from talking about mundane things like style preferences, to discussing war at the United Nations.
